Jim Stockley, Chair

I have been part of corporate life for over 30 years. Like most people in Wokingham Borough, I have never worried about Health and Social Care. I take it all for granted. It will be there when I need it. But what about in the future? What about for the more vulnerable? What about for our children? Well, that was enough to get me to volunteer for Healthwatch and use my business background to help develop Healthwatch Wokingham as a Consumer Voice for Health and Social Care.

We are 167,000 people in Wokingham Borough and I believe we are all in Healthwatch. That should be enough to shout loudly. Please get involved and email, phone or write to us to be part of this and learn more.    jim.stockley@healthwatchwokingham.co.uk

Our Board

Mark Sharman – Executive Director

Mark is the Chief Executive of Help & Care and Executive Director representing Help and Care on the Healthwatch Wokingham Borough CIC Board.  Mark joined Help & Care when it began as a three month pilot project in 1985.  Mark has maintained his commitment to Community Development, with the aspiration that everyone can take part in the issues that affect their lives.

Over the years Mark has held a number of local, regional and national advisory roles relating to innovation in public service delivery, community engagement and organisational leadership.  Mark was awarded the OBE in the New Year Honours list for 2003, and an Honorary Doctorate from Bournemouth University in November 2003. Mark looks forward to contributing to the establishment of Healthwatch Wokingham Borough as a vibrant consumer champion that supports people and communities living the lives they choose.

Tony Allen – Finance Director

I have lived in Wokingham for 35 years. I have 3 grown up children all of whom were born in Wokingham and two grandchildren. I am particularly interested in the care of the elderly, especially concerning dementia. I also have an interest in diabetes and the treatment of leukaemia in young children as I lost a brother to this at 2 years of age.

Having retired as a Finance Director in the Rail Industry, I joined Healthwatch Wokingham with a view to helping to improve the overall quality of health and social care provision in the Borough. We are here to champion the rights of the consumer and to listen and to address their concerns in which way we can influence the providers and funders of the services in the Borough.

Nick Campbell White – Non Executive Director

Nick is very active in the community. He is a member of the Wokingham Citizens Advice Bureau Board.  He was selected to be their Executive Director as he has an in-depth knowledge of community organisations and the various layers of Government & Council regulations which affect them. (He was previously a member of the Winchester CAB Board for 12 years).  He is also an active member of Wokingham Town Council, representing Norreys West ward.

Heather Murray – Non Executive Director
